Facilities at the Hospital
Ola Olu Hospital provides a holistic and comprehensive primary health care service. Its impact has been so far-reaching that it has variously been described as the “neighborhood hospital” and “the annual harbinger of the Christmas season.” In its services the hospital seeks to care for the total man. It cares not only for the bodily needs of its patients, it offers counseling as may be required and is also concerned with the spiritual needs of its patients.
Ola Olu hospital has a virile choir and has organized a yearly outreach programme tagged “Carols on the Rock” since 1977. At this event, an estimated twenty thousand people gather in an edifying outdoor. Carol-singing for its patients and other interested participants from nearby communities. The Hospital thus caters for the needs of the body, the mind and the spirit.
The service offered covers every facet of primary health care; preventive, promotive, and curative. There are special clinics such as Antenatal Clinic, postnatal Clinic, Child Welfare Clinic and Family Planning Clinic.
Apart from comprehensive primary health care service, the Hospital also gives secondary care service. There is a Medical Laboratory, an X-ray Unit, facilities for ultrasound scanning, a labour and Delivery Unit and an Operating Theatre.
The Hospital takes part in the training of medical students of the University of Ilorin during their Community Based Experience and Service (COBES) posting to the Hospital. It also takes on senior resident doctors for their mandatory tutelage in private medical practice, before their final Fellowship Examination in General Medical Practice.
A qualified team of consultants, full-time and part-time, mans the services; assisted by qualified nursing, technical, managerial, administrative, secretarial, and other support staff. Various specialists come to make their services available on part-time basis. |
